Hi I am Amy Harrington. I am so happy you are here.   I am a Physical Therapist specializing in Women’s health.  I have been practicing Women’s health PT for 20 years.  It is my passion to self empower women and spread awareness and assistance to overcome pelvic floor dysfunction and pain.  As a child I suffered from urinary stress incontinence.  There was not any treatment options for me growing up.  Little did I know that this embarrassing problem I had as a child would lead me to helping others overcome their pelvic floor dysfunction! It wasn’t until I was in Physical Therapy school that I realized that there were these amazing muscles called your pelvic floor.  Discovering  these muscles changed my life.  I immediately started taking pelvic health classes as soon as I graduated from PT school.   My treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction also led me into the field of physical therapy for pregnancy and postpartum rehab.   Many of the women I treated for incontinence would tell me their pain or urinary leakage  began in pregnancy or postpartum. I  furthered my education to include treating pregnancy and postpartum pain and weakness related symptoms.   I  love working with pregnancy and postpartum patients on prevention of pelvic floor dysfunction and pain. I work with patients who are experiencing pelvic pain and who have overly tight pelvic floor or abdominal muscles that are contributing to their pain. I like to incorporate specific yoga poses to help address tightness in hips and pelvis that can contribute to pain I love designing exercises and rehab programs for women with urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse symptoms, and pre and post pelvic surgeries.
